The 551 is a heavy jig hook. It is specifically designed to allow upsizing beads without impeding the gape opening. With respect to the Firehole 516 this hook is 1XL with an additional gape size.

Firehole Sticks 860

This 860 is a really nice, heavy streamer hook. This hook is designed on the 811 base having a slightly shorter shank (by an eye length) and with point laid down to open the gape. Great choice articulated flies, sliders, and deer hair bugs. It is perfectly paired with our articulated shanks, AS1 & AS2.

Firehole Sticks AS1 & AS2

The AS1 and AS2 are unique articulated shanks. Designed to permit the changing or substitution of materials in the field. Field tested for over 18 months. Hang tested with 50 lbs dead weight on shank without a tie down.

Specifications

The AS1 & AS2 are identical in form and function. Both are formed from stainless steel wire.

  • AS1 utilizes 0.9 mm wire and is suggested for hooks #6 and larger.
  • AS2 utilizes 0.8 mm wire and is suggested for hooks #6 and smaller.
  • Manufactured in the same manner as a stainless steel hook. Equally as strong as any hook of comparable wire size.
  • Both are available in four lengths; 0.75", 1.0", 1.5", and 2.25".

Note: There is no industry standard for hook eye sizes. I present these suggestions after measuring many streamer hooks from most manufacturers. You may find that the suggested hook size may change based on the hook manufacturer that you use.
