I started tying flies in 2022 and quickly became completely obsessed with it. Since then, I've really nerded out on fly tying, constantly experimenting with materials, techniques, proportions, and different patterns.
Fly Tying Experience
Years Tying Flies: Since 2022
How You Got Started
I got started through my passion for fly fishing and wanting to tie my own flies. It quickly became a big part of the sport for me, and I now spend a lot of time learning, experimenting, and trying to understand why certain flies and materials work the way they do.
Favorite Species & Waters
Target Species: Trout and grayling
Favorite Waters to Fish: Fast-flowing rivers, heavy streams, and strong currents.
Fly Tying Style & Specialties
My tying style is focused on practical, fishable patterns. I especially enjoy tying caddis patterns, dry flies, emergers, nymphs, and small streamers.
I like experimenting with natural materials, movement, proportions, and simple techniques that create effective flies without making them unnecessarily complicated.
Why You Trust Firehole
I discovered Firehole Outdoors through my interest in fly tying and my search for reliable hooks that fit the type of flies I tie and fish.
For me, a good hook needs to offer consistent quality, reliable strength, and good proportions. I appreciate products made with both the fly tyer and the angler in mind.
