About Firehole Outdoors | Barbless Hooks & Tungsten Beads

THE FIRE IS BACK

Firehole Outdoors was built on a simple idea: fly tyers deserve better. Better engineering, better consistency, and a brand that respects the craft as much as the anglers who practice it.

For years, Firehole earned a devoted following because the products spoke for themselves. Clean design. Stupid-sharp points. Purposeful simplicity. Performance at the vise and on the water.

Then Firehole went quiet.

Inventory disappeared. Communication stopped. And across the fly-tying world, people asked the same question: what happened to Firehole?

The truth is simple: Firehole paused. The demand never did. The community didn't.

So we brought it back — rebuilt with intention, stabilized with better infrastructure, and restored with a renewed commitment to quality and consistency. Firehole is now part of Next Bend Outdoors. The spirit, tone, and purpose are unchanged.

This isn't a revival.

It's a reforging.

Quality control is tighter. Materials sourcing is better. Sizing is more consistent. The hook designs are the same because they were right. Everything around them has gotten sharper.

Born in Bozeman. Reforged in New England.

A LETTER FROM THE OWNER

Fly fishing has always been where I find my center. It's where the noise drops away and things make sense again. I picked up a fly rod more than thirty years ago and started tying flies not long after. For me, tying has always been a natural extension of fly fishing — the same patience, rhythm, and attention to detail, just in a quieter form. Whether I'm at the vise or on the water, it's the process that grounds me. That focus has shaped how I approach nearly everything.

When I saw Firehole — a brand I personally admired for its clean design, smart engineering, and loyal following — begin to fade from view, I couldn't just watch it disappear. The fly-tying world needs brands like Firehole. Brands with purpose, humility, and grit.

That's why I brought it back.

Not to reinvent it. To honor what it was, protect what it stands for, and build on it for the long haul.

Firehole is still everything that made it great: barbless by design, purpose-built for performance, made for tyers who care about the details. The foundation is now stronger. The product line is expanding. And the commitment to the community that kept the fire burning while we were away — that runs through everything we do.

To those who supported Firehole from the beginning: thank you.

To those discovering it for the first time: you're in good company.

Tight lines,

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Stupid Sharp. Purpose Built. Always Barbless.

BUILT ON BARBLESS

Firehole was founded on barbless principles before it was fashionable. Barbless hooks penetrate better, release cleaner, and reflect a respect for the fish and the rivers we keep coming back to. It's not a trend. It's how we build.

Every Firehole Stick starts with high-carbon steel — strong, sharp, and resilient. The design is minimal because minimal works. A good hook doesn't need to show off.

Firehole Stones are tungsten done right. Clean bores, precise sizing, reliable finishes, weights you can trust. When you buy a 2.5mm Stone, you get a 2.5mm Stone. Every time.

That's the standard. That's the whole thing.
