Firehole barbless jig hooks are built for Euro nymphing and any subsurface pattern that should ride point-up. Manufactured barbless, not de-barbed.

The bend at the eye, 60 degrees on most models and 90 on the 511, keeps the point riding up through the drift. Fewer hangs on the bottom, and a better angle on a subtle take. The shank is sized so a slotted tungsten bead seats clean against the bend with no gap and no wobble. That matters more than most tyers expect. A bead that shifts changes where the weight sits, and where the weight sits changes how the fly tracks.
