Bryceten Forrester - Williamsburg, Pennsylvania

Hey guys! My name is Bryceten Forrester! I’m a 25 year old fly fisherman and fly tier from southcentral PA. Im a husband, and father of two kiddos reid(4.5) and wrenn(2.5). I currently work as a machine operator at a factory, but plan to guide and tie flies as a full time gig as soon as possible! As a teenager trying to get into a new hobby&style of fishing led me to the tying world. I had no idea what I was doing! I asked for  help from a few local fly shops who were generous enough to show me some tips and tricks to start the basics. Watched hours upon hours of people tying on YouTube to try to become a better fly tier. Lance Egan, Devin Olsen and Shawn Holsinger videos were on constantly! I initially opened my shop to be able to afford the extra materials, then things went crazy from there. Seeing orders go out from all over the world was an eye opening experience. The fact that you could tie for yourself, your friends, someone a few miles down the road or across the pond somewhere is my motivation to never give up! I really enjoy tying and testing new patterns, that keeps the drive and motivation up! I’ve had a lot of help along the way with a lot of amazing mentors that have shown me tips and tricks to be more effective at the bench and on the water. I’ve also had a few great companies jump on board to help my very small 1 person operation succeed. Anadromous fly company, Saluda beads, Ulric River materials and Trudave outdoors. Without the support of those companies to push me forward, I wouldn’t be able to accept this position as an ambassador for one of the biggest manufacturers in the tying industry. I’m looking forward to this adventure with Firehole Outdoors and looking forward to tying many more bugs!

Fly Tying Experience

Years Tying Flies: 5

How You Got Started:

My good friend and I thought we’d change out fishing up and learn to fly fish. I explained to my wife that I’d like to start tying flies and fishing them… and turns out she took a tying class in school and had all the tools available. I lived about 5 minutes away from Holsingers fly shop in Claysburg PA, at the time, so the materials were close by. I started my shop to try to make a couple bucks to afford extra materials. The rest was history!

Any France fly or pheasant tail variations!
