As a tyer I try to use techniques and methods that are proven with my own twist to make flies that give me confidence, as well as try to trigger pure instinctual strikes. I also LOVE mixing and making dubbing.
As an angler, I really love river fish. River bass and trout are my passions. Reading water, adapting to conditions, taking all variables into account, while controlling my controllables is tranquility. The never ending process of being a better version of who I was last on the water.
Fly Tying Experience
Years Tying Flies: A little over 3 years
How You Got Started
Got started by wanting to tie up some Swim Coaches by Craven.
Favorite Pattern to Tie
My cone head streamer is by far my favorite fly I do. As well as nymphs and jigged streamers for trout. I use the 811 for all my larger and articulated streamers cause it's super sturdy and stupid sharp.
Favorite Species & Waters
Target Species: River bass and trout, especially Guadalupe bass and their hybrid
Favorite Waters to Fish: The Lower Colorado River for bass, and the Guadalupe River for stocker and holdover trout
Fly Tying Style & Specialties
My tying style can be over complicated in ways but very streamlined. I think I've become fairly proficient with dubbing loops.
Why You Trust Firehole
I trust Firehole because I've never had a bend or break on any model I've used. I'm also a firm believer that barbs do more damage than helping hook up ratios.

Gear & Bench Setup
I use a Rambler Nomad vise. My most used tools are a Stonfo 1 Y dubbing twister, Stonfo comb/brush combo, Kopter scissors, TMC ceramic bobbin and Loon D-Loop tweezers.
I swear by Semperfli's Nano Silk. Rabbit and pine squirrel zonkers, craft fur, Arizona Simi Seal and Senyo's Laser Dub round out the bench.
Fun Fact
I am an absolute nerd. I love Magic: The Gathering, sci-fi, fantasy and D&D.
